Article: Region International Opportunities
Sue and Michelle – Region International Advisors – have been in touch regarding 2010 International Opportunities. Following a recent meeting a number of exciting opportunities were discussed for international travel in 2011. This means that we do need to have a Region INTOPS weekend this year.
As there isn’t sufficient time to hold a County International Opportunities, it is suggested that this year County applications are submitted on paper and from these 3 will be selected to attend the Region INTOPS weekend on Sat 11th – Sun 12th September (venue to be confirmed). A maximum of 3 places is being offered per county. Should we receive lots of applications in Cheshire Forest, we will hold an evening of interviews to select three participants.
We are looking for girls and young women aged between 14 and 20 as of 1st July 2010 (this means they will be 15-21 at the time of travel). We are particularly interested in those who may be suitable for more challenging trips rather than European jamboree style events.
We are looking to run a mini GOLD style project, most likely to Morocco, so we’re looking for personal confidence, good organisational skills, a sense of humour, interpersonal skills, commitment and people who are up for a challenge.
Leaders required to lead the trip
In addition, we are looking for young women aged between 21 and 29 as of 1st July 2010 (so 22-30 at the time of travel) to make up a team of leaders. It would be good if these people could apply via counties too. There’s no limit on the number per county if they are strong candidates, but they will also need to attend the INTOPS weekend in September.
Please distribute this information to all units with older Guides, Young Leaders, Seniors and young Guiders. Please also remind your Divisions that YLs working with Rainbow and Brownie units are just as eligible to apply as those with Guides.
Could all applications please be returned to H.Taylor, 10 Dairy Bank, Elton, Chester, CH2 4PF.
