Fancy a splash or a mountain top moment?

We are coming into the summer and already there has been lot of camps and holidays and there are many more planned for the coming months.  We had a very successful camps and holidays training a few weeks ago with more of the same in the planning stages for next year.

Remember that this is only the start! Why not add a little spice to the trip by introducing your unit to a new activity, maybe go canoeing, take them climbing or go for a stunning walk?

Of course it is possible to do all of these things by providing an instructor, but YOU COULD be that instructor if you wanted to be!!

The outdoor team is here to help! This year’s opportunities are:

Get Wet Centenary Challenge

Get Wet ChallengeThe aim of the challenge is to increase the numbers of children and adults participating safely in water activities across our region.

The Challenge will run from 1st January 2009 until 31st December 2010 – activities already completed may be back-dated to the start of 2009.
For an electronic copy of the clauses to be completed or to declare completion of the Challenge and order your badge please email Alison Quinn: aquinn@cheshireforest.org.uk

The Get Wet 100 Challenge is open to every member of Girlguiding UK who wishes to take part. Each participant must choose from the list of clauses to earn 100 points and gain their badge. Different clauses may be selected to earn a second badge. The Challenge may be adapted under certain circumstances to ensure that everyone can take part – please contact Alison for advice.

Mentoring new campers

Do you have skills and experience that you can pass onto leaders who doing the camps and holidays scheme?

Make a splash

Alison Quinn is looking for anyone over the age of 14 who is prepared to help on water activities (e.g. launching and recovering boats) For a small annual subscription fee, the volunteers help out on the water’s edge on the Sundays that they are free and in return they get free tuition. This would be ideal for DoE service projects or for Queens Guide Award and leaders who want to gain water experience and have lots of fun!

Mountain top moments

If you fancy taking your unit for a walk, whether it’s a stroll through Delamere, map reading round Frodsham or a more challenging trip to the Lakes or Peak District we can help you prepare. Contact Sue Parton for a chat and she can help you make an action plan.
