Cheshire Hike Training Programme

Date: 17th Oct 2023 Author: Scout Websites

Cheshire Hike is an annual event run by Cheshire Scouts, for Scouts and Guides between the ages of 10½ and 17. Across two days, three age sections and four possible team sizes, Cheshire Hike sees 700+ Scouts and Guides walk between 30km and 60km between start and finish locations that are revealed just two weeks before the event. The event in 2024 will see 720 Scouts and Guides within three age sections walk these distances in a weekend, camping at a basecamp overnight.

Scouts, Explorers, Guides and Rangers will be hiking through the Cheshire countryside, navigating their way. It requires preparation, organisation, teamwork, resilience and personal determination to get to the end.

Girls take what they do in guiding with them as they grow up. Everything from working in a team, to taking the lead, to speaking out on issues they care about. It helps them develop the skills and confidence to become the young women they want to be. ’
