The event honoured leaders who have each given between 5 and 50 years of their time to supporting girls and young women, with long service awards presented for 5, 10, 20, 30, 40 and 50 years of service. Each recipient was presented with a long service badge and certificate in recognition of their commitment.

In total, 86 volunteers were recognised, including:

Karin Howorth, County Commissioner explains “We are incredibly proud of all our volunteers and the dedication they show. Reaching milestones like this represents years of commitment, care and enthusiasm. Their impact on young people and the wider community is truly invaluable.”

Additional awards presented included the Girlguiding North West England Region Chief award, for Carol Ridley, this award recognises members who demonstrate outstanding enthusiasm, abilities, or qualities as ambassadors for the region. Carol plays a significant role in our leader training programme.

Nikki Barker was presented with the national Laurel award. This is an award for an active member of Girlguiding who’s made an outstanding contribution to guiding. Nikki has just finished her term as County Commissioner, which included leading a significant change project, where 11 divisions were consolidated into 6.

The celebration event brought volunteers together to reflect on their achievements and be recognised by their peers, with many sharing stories and memories from their years of service.
