Cheshire Hike

Cheshire Hike is a challenging 2 day expedition, completed in teams of 2 – 5 people, open to Scouts, Guides, Rangers and Explorers  (and Young Leaders).

The hike takes you through some part of the Cheshire countryside. It requires preparation, organisation, teamwork, resilience and personal determination. It delivers skills for life as you learn to navigate, camp, cook and have fun with your friends.

 Route length depends upon your age category:- (Your age is taken from the first day of the hike;  Saturday 26^th September 2026)

Girlguiding Cheshire Forest supports girls to prepare and practice for the Cheshire Hike by offering a detailed training programme.  The programme covers all skills needed to successfully complete the hike; and along the way we hope to include some fun. Girls learn to navigate, use lightweight camping and cooking equipment and work together as a team.

A taster hike took place on Sunday 29th March 2026, to find out more and see if it’s for you.  

In 2026 the Cheshire Hike will be on the last weekend in September.

CHESHIRE HIKE TRAINING 2026 – Dates – all walks are in Cheshire.

Sunday 19^th April 2026 – walk followed by parents meeting.

Friday& Saturday 15th/16th May 2026 – training camp – Pettypool

Sunday 21^st June 2026 – Walk

Saturday 11^th July 2026 – Walk

Saturday 1^st August 2026 – walk

Saturday & Sunday 12th/23th September 2026 practice hike

MAIN EVENT  26th/27th September 2026 – somewhere in Cheshire!

New hikers must be available for all dates except August walk.

Hike training for 2026 costs £120.00  (includes entry to Cheshire Hike; 2 weekend camps and 5 day hikes)

All first time hikers must attend the training weekend in May.
